*THE PERSON BEHIND YOTTABIT*

# Built by Futurist *Jim Carroll.*

More than three decades spent helping people and organizations make sense of a rapidly changing world. One central belief: the greatest opportunities emerge when we question assumptions about what comes next.

## A career devoted to *understanding what's next.*

Jim Carroll is a Canadian futurist, author and global keynote speaker whose work has explored emerging technologies, scientific breakthroughs and industrial change since the early years of the commercial internet. His research and keynote work span energy, manufacturing, agriculture, healthcare, finance, science and leadership.

In 1994 he co-authored [*The Canadian Internet Handbook*](https://jimcarroll.com/2014/03/it-was-20-years-ago-today-the-canadian-internet-handbook/), helping readers understand an unfamiliar digital future. Since then, his work with leadership teams has emphasized the need to challenge outdated assumptions, accelerate learning and find the opportunities emerging from disruption.

Jim registered the Yottabit.com, Yottabit.net and Yottabits.com domains in 2000. The name captures his long-standing fascination with technological scale and acceleration. Today, YottaBit brings that perspective together with research from laboratories, public institutions and industry to explain extraordinary change in a voice anyone can understand.

## Why tell these stories?

Science can be exciting without being sensational. A large statistic can be memorable without misleading people. A future scenario can help us act without pretending it is inevitable. YottaBit is built on that editorial philosophy: start with the remarkable possibility, explain what it means, then show the evidence and the boundaries of what is known.
