THE PERSON BEHIND YOTTABIT

Built by Futurist
Jim Carroll.

Decades spent helping people make sense of accelerating change. One big idea: the future is becoming bigger, faster and more interconnected than our mental models can easily comprehend.

FOUNDER / FUTURIST / AUTHOR

Making sense of what's next.

Jim Carroll is a Canadian futurist, author and global keynote speaker whose work explores how emerging technologies, scientific breakthroughs and disruptive trends reshape industries and organizations.

Over more than three decades, Jim has delivered over 2,000 keynotes to audiences numbering more than two million people worldwide. His speaking and research work has taken him across industries and to organizations including NASA, Disney, Pfizer, Mercedes-Benz and the World Bank.

His work began during the earliest commercial years of the Internet. In 1994 he co-authored The Canadian Internet Handbook, helping introduce a generation of readers to an unfamiliar digital future. He later wrote about technology and business change for The Globe and Mail and became a recognized voice on innovation, acceleration and the future of industries.

Today, Jim's research spans artificial intelligence, genomics, advanced manufacturing, energy, robotics, scientific discovery and the ways these revolutions intersect. His keynote work is built around original, industry-specific research and a practical question: what changes next, and what becomes possible because of it?

Why Yottabit?

Jim has owned the Yottabit.com, Yottabit.net and Yottabits.com domains since 2000. The name captures a long-standing fascination with the way technological progress changes our sense of what is possible.

A yottabit is 10²⁴ bits. Here it is also a symbol of a much larger transition: vast information flows, increasingly affordable intelligence, computational science and coordinated machines reinforcing each other in unexpected ways.

Yottabit exists to explain that scale, connect the evidence and explore the opportunities without losing sight of the real-world limits.

An independent research destination

Yottabit is a project founded by Jim Carroll, not a claim that every article or indicator has been independently peer-reviewed. Its research materials are intended to distinguish measured evidence from projections, scenarios and hypotheses. Read more about our research methodology.
